Unlike SEO, paid ads can bring leads in the first week. That speed is exactly why many businesses give up too early: the first results are rarely the best results. Here is what a realistic first 90 days looks like.
Week 0: setup (before spending)
- Audit of existing accounts, website and enquiry handling.
- Conversion tracking for forms, calls and WhatsApp clicks.
- Offer, audiences and budget agreed against a target cost per lead.
- Landing page checked or built, and first creatives approved.
Skipping this step is the most expensive shortcut in advertising. Without tracking, you cannot tell what is working.
Days 1 to 30: launch and learn
Campaigns launch with several audiences and three to six creatives. Meta and Google both have a learning period while their systems work out who converts, and costs can be higher and less stable during it. Expect first enquiries, and expect some to be poor quality. The goal of month one is data, not perfection.
Milestone: tracking works, first leads arrive, and you know which audiences and creatives are ahead.
Days 31 to 60: cut and refine
Weak audiences, keywords and creatives are paused. New creatives are built from what the winners are doing. Your sales team's feedback on lead quality is used to adjust targeting and form questions. Cost per lead usually improves noticeably in this phase.
Milestone: cost per lead at or near target, and a clear picture of which campaigns bring real customers.
Days 61 to 90: scale what works
Budget increases gradually on proven campaigns. We add retargeting, test a second platform or open new locations. Scaling too fast can raise costs, so increases are steady.
Milestone: predictable monthly lead volume at a known cost, and a plan for the next quarter.
What can speed things up
- An existing ad account with conversion history.
- A strong, specific offer.
- A fast landing page and quick lead follow-up.
- High search demand for your product (Google results often come faster).
What can slow things down
- Very small budgets that produce too few conversions to learn from.
- Long B2B sales cycles, where leads take months to become customers.
- Slow approvals or frequent changes of direction.
- Broken tracking, which hides what is working.
How this compares to organic content
Organic LinkedIn and Instagram content builds trust over months and makes ads work better, but rarely produces leads quickly on its own. Paid ads are the faster lever; content is the compounding one. Our LinkedIn for B2B service is designed to run alongside ads for that reason.
If your campaigns have been running for a while without reaching these milestones, our 7 signs your ad budget is being wasted is a good place to start.
